Showers Move East
You'll barely notice as yet another Pacific cold front, our third of the week, moves through today. Rain chances loom very low (less than 20%) and temps won't be affected much. We're expecting a bright kickoff to spring break weekend!
There's some chill in the air right now, though, so don't forget a light jacket before you walk out the door. You'll likely be able to ditch the sleeves in a matter of hours as temps rise to upper 60s by noon and mid 70s by 3pm.
In the wake of today's front, slightly breezier northwest winds will develop tomorrow and temps will be a couple of degrees cooler but still right near normal. Sunny skies prevail as upper-level high pressure develops over Texas for the days ahead, allowing temps to warm to near 80 this coming weekend. Not until early next week does a rain chance return.
Spring Break/SXSW... Checking in on the 8-day forecast, looks like showers and storms accompany a cold front next Monday night to Tuesday morning, with the coolest of next week coming Tuesday. Rest of the week? Nice!! Be sure to check back here for updates.
Wednesday Recap... We told you of a very slim but noted chance for a few midday storms yesterday and they indeed developed. Activity was isolated, but hail up to 3/4" in diameter was reported 7 miles SE of Bee Cave, hail 1/2" in diameter was measured 3 miles west of Sunset Valley, and hail up to 1" around 2pm near Wyldwood in Bastrop Co. Austin-Mabry recorded .08" of rain.
Call for Flowers... Send your bluebonnet and other wildflower photos as e-mail attachments to photos@news8austin.com then watch Weather on the Eights for them to air every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until we run out.
